The short version

Rede stores what your family shares in the app so that everyone in the family can see it. Nobody outside your family can.

There are no ads, no tracking and no analytics, and your data is never sold or shared for marketing.

Three features can use an AI model to read text for you, each only if your household turns it on: turning a sentence into a calendar event, summarising mail sent to your family's address, and suggesting short “News in brief” lines for the Family Newspaper from what is shared with “Family”. Nothing in the paper is printed until someone in the household has ticked it. What it reads is not used to train it. When you say a sentence, your phone turns speech into text with Apple's speech recognition; with AI for new events off, that happens on the phone only.

What we store

Your account: your name, the colour you pick, your language, a profile photo if you add one, and either your email address or the anonymous identifier Sign in with Apple gives us.

What your family shares: messages and reactions, photos and videos (with the date and, if the photo or video has one, where it was taken), calendar events, and mail sent to your family's email address, including attachments.

Videos are made smaller on your phone before they are sent (at most 1080p and three minutes), and the location is removed from the video file itself. The original stays on your phone.

Your location, if you share it: only your latest position, with its time and your battery level. We keep no history; each new position replaces the last. Members of the wider family (grandparents and others in “Family”) share no location unless they turn it on themselves, and then only the household can see it.

Shared links: when you share photos or videos with a link, anyone who has the link can see them until the link expires or you stop it. We count how often it is opened, and a visitor can send a heart with a name they type. If you subscribe to the family calendar in another calendar app, that app fetches the events with a private link.

Your devices: a push notification token and the app version for each phone you sign in on, so we can tell you about new messages.

Your purchase: the App Store transaction that unlocked Rede for your family, so every member has access on every device. We never see your payment details.

AI agents

If someone in your household connects an AI agent (such as Claude or ChatGPT) or a script to Rede, it can do what that person can do in the app, limited to what they approved, and it always sees the family's names, birthdays and email address: read and send messages (and delete their own), read, add, change and delete calendar events, see photos, read mail sent to your family's address, and see where people in the household are on the family map (the place, the position to about ten metres, how precise and how old it is, and a low battery), with a map picture of the spot. It never sees where grandparents and others in “Family” are. Rede sends what the agent asks for to its provider, which handles it under its own terms; the person who connected it chose that provider.

Agents can't share anything outside the family, invite people or send email. Everyone in the household can see which agents are connected, and you can see when an agent asked where you are and turn off agents' access to your location in Settings → Agents. For each agent we keep its name, what it may do, and when and from which country it was last used; we record which agent did what and when (never the content) and keep that record for 90 days, and a disconnected agent's record for 90 days after. While a connection waits for approval (ten minutes), we keep the town and country the page was opened from, as Cloudflare guesses them, to show them in the app, and, if you approve with an email code instead of the app, the address; both are deleted the next day.

Family Newspaper

The paper is made only from what is shared with “Family”: photos, events, birthdays and messages in the “Family” chat. Nothing from “Home” is included.

Recipients: the household itself adds the name and postal address (for the printed paper) or email address (for the PDF edition) of grandparents and others. We use them only to send the paper.

A recipient by email first gets a single email in which they say yes please; without a yes, we send nothing. Every email has a link to unsubscribe. If a recipient says no, we remember only that, so we don't ask again.

The printed paper is printed and posted by Familio ApS itself; the address is on a label on the envelope. The paper's PDFs are kept for 13 months, so a lost paper can be sent again.

If “Family Newspaper” is on under Smart suggestions, captions and messages from “Family” in the paper's period are sent to Anthropic's AI model, which suggests short lines for “News in brief”. Nothing is printed until someone in the household has ticked it. It is off until you turn it on.

When a recipient stops, we delete the address within 30 days. Once payment for the printed paper has ended, we keep only what the Danish Bookkeeping Act requires.

Who handles it

Rede runs on Cloudflare, which stores the data, photos and videos, delivers the family email and the sign-in codes, and runs a backup AI model when the main one doesn't answer.

Anthropic (USA) runs the AI model Claude, which can read three things for Rede, each only if your household has turned it on in Settings → Smart suggestions (all three are off until you do). If the “New event” switch is on, when you add an event by writing or saying a sentence, that sentence and the first names of your household go to it, so it can fill in the title, day, time, place and who the event is for; with it off, your phone reads the sentence itself and nothing is sent. If the “Inbox” switch is on, then when mail arrives at your family's address, the sender, subject and text, the text of a PDF the mail links to, and the household's first names go to it, so it can write a short summary and suggest calendar events. With it off, no AI model reads your mail. If the “Family Newspaper” switch is on, captions and messages from “Family” in the paper's period go to it, so it can suggest short lines for “News in brief”; nothing is printed until someone in the household has ticked it. Anthropic processes this only to answer Rede and does not use it to train its models.

Apple delivers push notifications, handles Sign in with Apple and the purchase, turns your voice into text when you use the microphone to add an event (only the text reaches us), and finds the place name for a location.

Mapbox (USA) draws the map picture an agent gets when it asks where someone at home is. Our server sends it only the positions and the first letter of each name for the pins, never names or anything else.

When a message contains a link, our server fetches the page's title and picture, so no phone in your family contacts the site.

Stripe handles the payment for the printed paper (card or Apple Pay). We never see your card number, only that the payment went through.

Cloudflare sends the paper's emails from avis@rede.life.

They process data only to provide these services.

How long we keep it

For as long as you use Rede. When you delete your account, we remove it with your sessions, devices and location straight away. Messages and photos you shared stay with your family, shown as from a former member. When the last member leaves, the whole family is deleted.

Any member can delete photos and videos they added, messages they sent, and mail in the inbox.

A video that never finished uploading is deleted after a day. Technical logs are kept for at most seven days. Your IP address is only used to count repeated attempts, such as requests for sign-in codes, and is not linked to your account.

Your rights

You can see, correct, export and delete your data. Most of it you can do in the app; for anything else, write to support@rede.life. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Denmark, Datatilsynet).

Who we are

Rede is made by Familio ApS, CVR no. 38924184, Nyhavn 31G, 3. th., 1051 København K, Denmark, which is responsible for your data. Contact: support@rede.life.

Familio ApS also sells the Family Newspaper and is responsible for the recipients' names and addresses.
