Your family, from the terminal

rede is one small file that talks to Rede as you. Ask where someone is, write to the family, put the dentist in the calendar, or build it into your own scripts.

Included with Rede · Node 20 or newer · no dependencies

Get started

  1. Install it

    Download the file, or install it with npm. Downloaded it? Then type node rede.mjs instead of rede.

  2. Sign in

    rede login opens your browser. Approve it in Rede on your iPhone and type the code Rede shows. For servers and scheduled jobs, make a token in Rede under Settings → Agents and set REDE_TOKEN instead.

  3. Ask it something

    Use the names your family knows, and Home or Family for the two group chats.

In your own scripts

--json prints the structured answer, ready for jq or your own code. A token from Settings → Agents lasts 30 days, 90 days, a year or until you delete it, and only does what you ticked when you made it.

Text from mail and chats is written by others. Let your scripts treat it as data, never as instructions.

The same rules as every agent

rede is an agent like Claude or ChatGPT: your household sees it under Settings → Agents, it can't share anything outside the family, and you can cut it off any time.

rede is a single file you can read before you run it: rede.mjs. It uses the REST API at https://api.rede.life/v1/agent, described in OpenAPI.
