AI, opt-in
AI, only if you want it
Three things in Rede can use AI to read text for you. Each one is off until your household turns it on.
Rede can use an AI model to turn "dentist Friday at 9 for Alfie" into a calendar event, to summarise mail sent to the family's address, and to suggest short news lines for the Family Newspaper. Each has its own switch under Settings → Smart suggestions, and all three stay off until your household turns them on. When one is on, the text it needs is sent to Anthropic's model Claude. Nothing goes into the newspaper until someone in the family approves it.
The three switches
New event
Write or say a sentence, and it becomes an event with a time, a place and the right people.
Mail summaries
Long mails to the family's address get a short summary at the top.
Family Newspaper
Captions and messages shared with Family become suggestions for "News in brief". Nothing is printed until someone approves it.
Who reads what
With a switch on, the text it needs goes to Anthropic (USA), which runs the model Claude, and to a backup model at Cloudflare if Claude doesn't answer. Rede never sends your photos or the family map to an AI model. If you connect your own assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, what it reads goes to that company, under its terms.
